Looking back at one of our early projects. We were approached by our clients to explore different options for extending their home.
Our proposals followed our standard process of establishing a brief, analysing the site, identifying the constraints and opportunities, and exploring different options varying in scale.
Our first starting point was demolishing the existing rear conservatory, which was of poor quality and brought little value to the use of the house. By relocating the kitchen and dining room from the front to the back of the house we managed to create a much more dynamic living space. The kitchen/dining now opened to the garden. A new study and bedroom were proposed to the front of the house.
Different options were explored for the roof height and shape, from a lantern-shape roof to a long and thin projected volume.
Externally, different cladding materials were also exposed: zinc, Equitone panels and timber shingles.
We thoroughly enjoyed working on this one!
